I am very fortunate as I have the pleasure to teach young people a valuable life skill. It is especially pleasing to see true talent be born.

Just last week, I was teaching a young person hand sewing. She had never sewn before. At first she was apprehensive and immediately stated she “could not do it!” I have heard that phrase all too often…

Well, I sat down with her and spoke softly and calmly and watched as she performed the stitches correctly. After just a couple of minutes of one on one instruction and confirmation of her ability.. this young student continued to sew on her own.

By the end of just one hour of sewing, her stitches became small and even! Beautiful…and not just the stitches!

Her smile of satisfaction was beaming!

She now knows she can sew and hopefully will be less apt to say “I cannot do it”…

For me…it was great to see her smile with satisfaction and pride in her accomplishment!
