The So You... Techniques Classes have been developed for youth who want to learn
the principals of garment construction. There are 12 levels of apparel sewing and each of these levels build on the previous
level learning. Students as young as 8 are suitable for this series of classes. For those young designers we strongly
recommend starting lessons in garment construction as soon as you realize you would like to enter this field of study in college.
Any Level can be repeated.
Level 1 - Sewing
a Basic Pair of pull on pants - Jammies - In this beginner class students will learn how to read a commercial pattern,
pin and layout a pattern. They will also learn proper cutting and measuring. Additionally they will ;learn how to hem,
sew proper seams and work with elastic. The class is 2 - two hour sessions. So You.. supplies all materials for this
beginner class. We do not however guarantee specific fabric colors or patterns. You are however welcome to use what we have
in stock! The fee for level 1 is $80.00.
Level 2 - Sewing a skirt. - In this class students will reinforce what they
learned in level 1, layout, pinning and cutting a commercial pattern, and will learn how to work with interfacings, beginning
of body measurement and fitting.They will also insert a zipper! This class is 3 - two hour classes. The fee for level two
is $140.00
Level 3 - Beginning pattern drafting - making a tote bag/purse - In this class students will begin to learn simple pattern
drafting as they create their perfect tote bag or purse. The fee for this class is $100.00 and is 3 two hour classes
Level 4 - Making a Dress - In this class we begin to work on
upper body measurements and fit. The dress must have armholes or sleeves. Other than that criteria students create what
they want! Previous learning is reinforced and we learn to work witjh curvesm necklines and sleeve treatments. This
is 4 two hour classes and the fee is $150.00
Level 5
- Making a Shirt/ Blouse - A placket, collar and sleeves are necessary for successful completion of this level. Level 5 builds
on the learning of level 4, as well as all previousl learning, with further emphasis on correct body measurment, proper
fitting and construction. Students will learn how to make button holes. This class is 4 two hour classes andthe fee
is $180.00
Level Six- Make a pair of constructed
pants/jeans- In this class students will be focusing on a proper fit for pants. Close attention need be paid to seam allowances,
fit and students will be making a fly front zipper. This class is 5 -two hour classes and the fee is $180.00
Level Seven - Working with Knits - In this class students will make a knitted "set" active
set, jog set, yoga set. It is important to work with a matching top and bottom for knitted fabrics. The class is 4 - two hour
classes and the fee is $180.00

8 - Lets make a dressy dress - In this class students will learn to work with novelty fabrics with substantial
yardage. This is a perfect class to make your prom dress, communion,confirmation or just any party dress! This class is
two hour classes and the fee is $190.00
Level 9 - Lets make a lined skirt or dress. This class will begin the understanding of lining
in a more structured dress. This class is 5 twpo hour classes and is $180.00
Level 10 - Lets make a Lined jacket/coat.This class will be 5
two hour classes and the fee is $195.00
Level
11 - Students will be making somethjing or somwone else. In this level, students will need to measure and fit
an item of clothing of their choice to someone else.Tis class is 5 - two hour classes and is $200.00
Level 12 - On your
own! Students will design and draft the pattern for their own apparel item This class is six two hour classes and is $240.00
