The Children of Christ

Vivian Burns is constinantly looking for ways to help others
with her many skills and resources. She keeps a look out for people in need. Here is the perfect example of a woman telling
her story of her Mission trip to Christ Orphanage, in Wegbe, Ghana, where Nicole arrived in Ghana
at Christ Orphanage for a two-month volunteer mission with lots of excitement. Vivian saw the need and she reached out.
Here is what Nicole had to say.
In January 2009, Fire Mountain Gems and Beads featured
my story and the story of Christ Orphanage on their website. (Here is the link to the article for those of you who are
interested: http://www.firemountaingems.com/specials/NL081230.asp?WT.fmg_linksection=5HYZX ) In response to this article, I received emails from FMG customers who wanted to find out more information
about the way they could help Christ Orphanage. One lady in particular stands
out. Vivian runs a sewing and design studio in New York called So You. After reading the story of Christ Orphanage
on the FMG website, she wanted to know how her community could assist the orphanage. As a new site for Christ Orphanage
(including housing for the orphans) is currently being built, we decided that pillowcases would be a necessity that Vivian's
community could assist with. I was recently informed that Vivian as well as numerous other sewers sewed 50 pillowcases
for the children! In addition to the 50 pillowcases, they are also sending 50 small pillows for the children. It warms my heart to know that there are such good people who are
willing to reach out and help Christ Orphanage and other needy organizations. As I told Vivian, I truly believe that
the children will sleep better at night knowing that the pillowcases they are sleeping on were made with so much love!
You can help too...On Sunday 8/23
is our August Community Service event. This month we will be making basic pull on panys and skirts for the children
of Christ orphanage, in Ghana. The event is scheduled from 11 am - 3 pm. Both Locations. All
materials are supplied by So You...
This time we need your help! Join us and make a difference.
Some of you may know that So You...has
been supporting the orphanage by making pillowcases, and small pillows for the children.
We also sell
the one of a kind earrings made by the women of the village in an effort to be self sufficient, and now we are fortunate to
have separate beads for sale in packages of 10 for $5.00(See our store for details) .
So You… has agreed to help Christ
Orphanage in obtaining school uniforms.We will make school pants in this upcoming event for 8/23.We are in need of purchasing polo shirts with crests.They are being printed, but do need to be
paid for.We need to raise $2000.00 for this purpose.Anything can help. We have the
opportunity to directly effect the lives of 167 children in Ghana.If you feel you can help contribute
